I am a Forward Deployed Engineer in Tampa, FL, working at Bay West Labs. I embed with an operator, learn how the work actually runs, build the system that fits it, and stay on it after handoff.
The part of this I care about is measurement. It is easy to build an agent that looks smart in a demo and hard to know whether it is right. So the harness comes before the agent, the holdout stays out of the agent's reach, and the hypotheses get written down with numeric thresholds before the run. When a hypothesis fails I publish it. There are refuted predictions in the research.
